Murgh cholay is a famous dish from across the border. Chicken cooked with chickpeas makes for an unbeatable combination. Did you know this is traditionally a part of their common breakfast dishes? Pair two of yoyr favourites with the goodness of olive oil.



Prep time: 2 Hour
Marination time: 4 hours
Cooking time: 30-35 minutes
Serves: 4

INGREDIENTS
  1. Chicken, curry cut - 500 gm
  2. olive oil - 1 Tbsp.
  3. cumin seed - 1 tsp.
  4. Onion, Finely chopped - no. 2
  5. Ginger-garlic paste - 2 Tbsp.
  6. Chickpeas, boiled - 1 cup.
  7. Chicken mince - 100 gm
  8. Garam masala powder - 1/2 tsp.
For the Marination
  1. Yogurt - 1/2 cup
  2. Ground black papper - 1 Tbsp.
  3. Red chilli powder - 1/2 tsp.
  4. Coriander powder - 1 Tbsp.
  5. Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp.
  6. Salt to taste 
To Garnish
  1. Green chillies - 2 sliced.
  2. Coriander leaves, as required
METHOD
  1. Marinate the chicken with yogurt, peppercorns, chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and salt. Mix well. Set aside to marinate for 4 hours.
  2. Heat olive oil in the non-stick kadai. Add the cumin seed. once they crackle, add the onions and ginger-garlic paste, and saute til brown.
  3. Add the marination chicken and cook on medium heat, Stirring occasionally.
  4. When Chicken starts releasing oil from the edges, add 1 cup hot water, boiled chichpeas, chicken mince and gram masala powder. Cook coverrd on low heat for 10 minutes.
  5. Garnish with green chillies and coriander leaves. Serve immediately.
